By far, the biggest wedding cake trend of 2016 has been textured buttercream frosting. Whether the wedding is more formal and elegant or casual and rustic, textured cakes are popping up across the spectrum. Paulina and Greg’s wedding cake at The Barns at Wesleyan Hills was a gorgeous example of this trendy style. They ordered golden cake with mixed berry filling and textured vanilla French buttercream frosting.

The cake was also accented with fresh peonies, roses, freesia, and ranunculus — an easy way to amplify an otherwise simple design. The couple also added a more personal touch with a Boston Bruins-themed chocolate mousse groom’s cake.
