Gretchen and Eric spent a long time planning their perfect wedding — from the venue (Eolia Mansion at Harkness Memorial State Park) to the catering (Coastal Gourmet) and all the details in between. With guidance from Lisa Antonecchia of Creative Concepts by Lisa, they created a show-stopping event.

The Cake

For their dessert, the couple chose a simple, but romantic three-tiered cake with textured buttercream frosting. JCakes also provided and placed a cascade of ivory roses, blush peonies, pale pink garden roses, freesia, and eucalyptus. For flavors, the top tier was golden cake with strawberry shortcake filling, the middle tier was golden cake with chocolate truffle filling, and the bottom tier was golden cake with raspberry buttercream filling. All three tiers were frosted with JCakes’ signature vanilla French buttercream. The cake was topped with a simple “Love You More” cake topper and placed on a silver cake stand to add a bit of glitz.

The Cupcakes

Gretchen and Eric also wanted unique favors and a special way to showcase Eric’s passion for tennis. They decided on a display of custom cupcakes — what better way to thank their guests than to send them home with something sweet?

The cupcake favors were chocolate and golden cake with Oreo mousse filling, frosted in grass green buttercream and accented with hand-made fondant tennis balls.

From The Wades:

Dear Hope and JCakes staff:

Thank you so very much for our stunning wedding cake and groom’s cupcake tower. We absolutely adored the desserts at our wedding.  The cake and fillings we chose were devine. And the decorations of the cascading flowers on our cake were matched so perfectly with our wedding flowers. The tennis-themed groom’s cupcakes were fun and tasty and we received so many compliments on them. Thank you for making our day a dream!  Love, The Wades
